NoT~2 STUDENTS TO ELECT COUNCIL On February 2, the faculty of North Carolina Wesleyan College will nominate eight students to serve on the Community Council. These students will be examined for scholastic rating, a 2.0 aver age is required, and for charac ter rating. The names will be held until February 9, when they v;ill be an nounced at assembly, /'t this as sembly the students will nominate four faculty members. The camp aign will begin at this time. On February l6, the election cf the students will be held to se lect four from the eight. The fa culty will choose two from those chosen by the students, and the staff V7ill select one, com.prising- a Community Council of 4 students, 2 faculty members, and one staff member. Dr. Willard B. Gatewood, Prof essor of History, has received good reviews on his book, Eugene Clyde Brooks, Educator and Public Servant, which was publis|ieH by the Duke University press Decem ber 31. It is a biography of a man who was prominent in political and ed ucational circles in North Carol ina. ^mong other things Eugene Brooks V7as President of N.C. State College and State Superintendent of Public Instruction. eflDUP JlPPDIflTSfl A special committee to study the organization of the Student Government Association at V/esley- an was appointed by SGA President Henry Sanders. Those appointed to the committee are David Caison, Freddie Jones, Joan Lamberth, and Dicky Moore. The purpose of this committee is to study student government organizations, student constitu tions, the Community Council, and qualifications for holding office in student affairs. It will make trips to other colleges to study the forms of government in these colleges. This committee will advise the president concerning student gov ernment maf:ers at present. When t:>e committee has made a thorough study, it will make a proposal to the student body for the permanert organization of the Student Gov ernment . The special committee is work ing with Vann Massey, SGA vice- president, and its work v/ill end when it has completed its study and made the proposal. DECALS COMINC Next week V/esleyan College sti> dents will be able to purchase de cals, key-chains, pennants, and stcitionery, decorated with the college seal and name.
